Christmas morning was a hit. The little Shern family enjoyed the presents that appeared magically in the middle of the night. David loved his construction truck, Lydia loved her craft/scrapbook album, and Michael Joseph loved being among everyone. We may go over to Cecil's mother today which would wrap up the Christmas Posts.

Shern/Williams Christmas Eve 2
What is it with me and the camera??? We celebrated Christmas Eve at our house with my parents, brother Larry, his wife Pia, and little Alison. Dinner was yummy and the presents were fun. Lydia has been begging for a sleeping bag and her dreams came true. In fact both kids wanted to go to sleep, so here's the only pic I took. Poor Michael Joseph was banished to his room. Cecil used my Kaiser Porcelain Nativity to tell the story of the birth of Christ. Monday morning I'll be shopping for a more child friendly nativity, there should be one on sale right???

Shern Christmas Part 1
On Sunday the 19 the Shern Family had the first of many Christmas Dinners/Present Exchange. Of Course I forgot to take any pictures. We had a great time in our home with Granpa Joe, The Aerakis Group, and the Wheelwright Group. I did snag a picture of the boys playing with the toys they recieved. Yes, another train set, David will never get tired of trains, we have the Geo Trax to add to Thomas the Train Electric, Magnetic, Ikea, and a Costco one. The Shern Family always has a train available to play with.
Christmas Greetings
I still love "snail mail". There is a wonderful book The Gift of a Letter by Alexandra Stoddard. Basically it is about the art and pleasure of writing letters and the joy it can bring. I still buy stamps, I still write checks, and I still send out Christmas Cards, not by email but through the postal service. Every year I decorate the inside of our front door with the Christmas Cards I recieve. It's fun for people leaving our home to get a peak at what wonderful friends and family I have. It also makes my drab door pretty. Merry Christmas, can you see your card on there??? If not maybe you should send me one.

Reschedule
We were going to celebrate Lydia's 5 th birthday on the 18, that is now postponed due to sick little people. Poor Lydia and Michael have the cough that won't stop. I made the decision this morning that I'll have to reschedule. I feel a little better knowing my friend Laura Megli (Super-MOM-Extrordinare with 6 children) has had to do the same thing. I'd hate for my kids to get other kids sick especially around the holidays. And so when it is a reasonable hour I will start letting her little friends know. On the up side I'm super prepared. Ha Ha Ha

Really??? A Wasp in the winter????
I am allergic to avocado. Most people know this about me. What I did not know is I am also allergic to the venom of a wasp. Did you know they are more poisonous than a bee???? That's right. I was minding my own business getting something out of the pantry when I felt a burning sting on my neck, and then another one, then I wiped "it " with my hand. Then my finger was on fire. There on the ground below me was a Marcy Hungry Wasp. I took a benadryl because it was getting red fast. My neighbor Pattee happened to come over to watch the kids so I could go to Costco. Around 300 E. and 11000 S. my throat started to close up the way it does if I eat an avocado, I looked in the mirror to check it out and my tongue was as big as Lydia's foot. In a panic I called my best bud Christina Nurse Practitiner Extrordinaire. She advised hospital asap and stayed on the phone until I got there. Fortunately there is a new St. Marks on 11800 S and State. I rushed in with my inhaler, insurance card, and i.d. in hand and couldn't talk, I opened my mouth and the staff went into hyper mode. Threw me on the stretcher, jabbed some epipens, started i.v. drips, and on and on. They had to monitor me for a few hours, but all is well, I'm home and oh so sleepy, (must be all the benadryl and other drugs) That is my post for the week. Stay tuned for Lydia's First Friend Birthday Party.

Kaiser
Our dog Kaiser has survived his second round of surgery. To make a long story short, we recieved bad advice from a Vet at Hillside Clinic. Two months later I decided to take him to Sandy Animal Clinic (they are incredible). He now has a shriveled up ear that is half the size it used to be. He is also in his cone for another three weeks. The duct tape is from where the cone has actually cracked, he can't stand it. But he is doing well, we haven't completely gone broke with his bills, and we didn't have to put him to sleep.

NO MORE CRIB????
For the last 5+ years we have had a crib in our home and at one point even two. Today that came to an end. Michael Joseph takes after Lydia and has been crawling out for a while now. He's not quite sure what to do when he gets to the top, sometimes he scoots down other times he falls with a loud thud. Well, we now have all three kids in big beds and Lydia is happy to have her room back all to herself.
Happy Birthday to Jayon!
Now that Bree has left us for the tumbleweeds of Texas, who is there to make cakes???? I attempted and succeeded. And off to Classic Skate we went. A fun little time for my little people. David managed to get a bloody lip within minutes of being there. (Doesn't get the concept of skooting/skating with the traffic.) Lydia had lots of fun switching between her skates and her scooter. Jayon, I hope your grandma or mom shows you my blog. You are a wonderful boy fast becoming a young man. You are such a great big brother and my kids love to play with you. You are a joy to have in our home and such a great help. We love you and hope you had Happy 10th!
