Proud to be an American
Congrats to my sweet sis-in-law who became an American Citizen on Wednesday June 8, 2011!!! It was a very moving experience and those of us who are born here are so lucky. Our 25 new citizens came from 18 different countries. Listening and talking with some of the other people was awe inspiring. The stories that these people had, some political refugees was incredible. The ceremony started with singing the Star Spangled Banner and the Pledge of Allegience. The Director of Immigration then gave a short speech and proceeded to announce the countries of origin alphabetically. At that point all 25 took the oath and were sworn in. At the end there was a short speech from President Obama and we then all sang Proud to be an American while watching a beatiful clip of our country's many beauties. I wish I had done better on the picture taking but I was having fun helping all the new immigrants get their pictures!!! I'm definately going to take my kids to one of these events when they are older, it's such a wonderful event to witness and to be a part of. Love you Pia!!!!

Go Girls Utah Volleyball Club
Our first 5k was awesome! Cecil's time was 28 minutes 52 seconds! Marcy's time was 44 minutes 33 seconds. I was just hoping to be under 45!!!! Woo Hoo! Since it was our first 5k we both registered as Beginners. Cecil came in first in that class and our friend Scott who did the Iron Man last year came in first for the Advanced and his wife Ashley came in first for Intermediate. I also was able to see some familiar faces from Bootcamp! My friend Susan who has lost 140 lbs in two years was my partner, when one of us got tired the other would run and we never wanted to be out of sight so it kept us both motivated. She finished a few minutes ahead of me. I enjoyed going and dragging my friend Lisa out of bed, she and her husband are back in Utah for a summer internship. So Lisa, when you read this, thanks for being a great sport, you are awesome. The best part was when I lost sight of Susan I was near our house and saw my cute cousin Madeline walking my kids in the stroller to the Pavillion to see us finish. They were my little cheerleaders and I was able to pick up my pace and catch up with my friend. Thanks Amy for being my inspiration to even attempt running! All my other friends who run, bike, you are all awesome. And special thanks to Mady for spending the night and taking care of the little munchkins. Good luck to the girls volleball club at the Junior Olympics in Atlanta. By the turnout I think there was at least $400.00 raised!!! Brandi again you are the best trainer ever! You still inspire me all the time to do better, and you organized a great 5k!
