Doldrums/Momdrums

Nobody prepares you for motherhood. Try as I may, I still am struggling with all of it. I think it's the monotony of the everyday stuff. When I worked full time, I had a major sense of accomplishment. Hair is a creative industry and you definately see the final outcome. But motherhood in all it's glory, well it never seems like I have it all together. It reminds me of Groundhog Day the movie, which I hated and Cecil loves. Just when I think the kids are good and the house is clean, food is prepared, it all unravels at once. I got up this morning and thought, I just vacuumed, I just did dishes, I just did laundry, the kids are already dirty. What is going on????? Everyone says you blink and they are off to college, so I'll just be ever so grateful that I'm able to stay home with these little people and realize that the house is never going to be as clean as it was when there were no little ones roaming around in it. And tomorrow I'll wake up and do it all over again with a smile on my face.

Hello Fort Sam Houston

CONGRATS TO JASON!!! I'm so excited for my friends Bree and Jason. After much studying and lots of hard work he was accepted into P.A. School in Texas with the U.S. Army. It's a little bitter sweet since I know they'll be leaving us, but I'm so happy for them and the opportunites for their family. Way to go guys!!!

Because I think I can!

Why not kill two birds with one stone???? On top of celebrating Michael's b-day, we had our annual BBQ. Even I admit this year it got a little out of control 120 people, no problem. But it was so much fun. In usual Marcy style, I forgot to take pictures until the very end. We had so much fun with our neighbors and friends, we missed some who were up at Bear Lake and down in St. George, you know who you are and you were missed! But what a blast! I love that my friend can still do her back flips after having four kids. But at the end of the day the adults got in on the fun and started bouncing. Days like today make me realize how much I love our neighborhood and the friends who have become family. No more parties, for a while at least. Cecil you are the best husband and you really know how to work our Grill. Thanks for letting me be a social butterfly, I'm not sure how many husbands would tolerate my ideas. Bouncin Bins has awesome bounce houses. My kids deserved their sleep. Finally I need to get Melissa to teach me how to do templates, so my blog is more fun to look at. She does have a link on this blog for anyone who's interested, Go Green Leaves Design!

Michael turns 1!

Oh, my little Michael Joseph turned 1 on Thursday and we celebrated with cake and family. Where does the time go, I love my little babies so! How did my nephew get so big???? He's going to be 16, seems like just yesterday I met this cute little 6 year old. I'm not even going to get into how tall he is. Happy Birthday little M.J.

More Thanks

I also forgot to thank grandpa, yia yia, and Aunt Pia for the extra help as well. Grandpa took the older kids to the lake and Pia helped care for me and little Michael. Aunt Pia makes yummy mashed potatoes with sauce.

AT LAST! (This may be TMI, but it's my journal and my life)

When I was a young girl I went from flat to 32D. My coaches had to tape my chest down for competition so the "girls" wouldn't get in the way. I always thought that nursing would make them shrink up like the other women in my family, but no they just got bigger. I'm happy to report that I had a successful breast reduction surgery on Tuesday August 3. My Dr. was fantastic, St. Marks kept me overnight for observation and I came home yesterday afternoon. I also had rapid weight loss (just under 6 lbs) woo hoo!!! I'm fortunate that my husband and friends have been taking wonderful care of me. And little Michael, 12 more days and I can pick you up again. Thank goodness he's into cruising and doesn't really want to be held.

In memory of a friend

We all have people that enter out lives for one reason or another. My dear friend Sarah lost her husband last week in a tragic ATV accident. Her husband was larger than life and such a generous person. I met this wonderful couple in a time of confusion. They were so wonderful and gracious. Brett sent Sarah and I on a girls trip to San Diego at a time that I never could have afforded to do so. I treasure the memories from that trip and the memories of a man who lived life to the fullest. RIP "Big Daddy"
